An Ending, A Beginning

For the last few months I've been writing this post in my head, and it's finally time to publish it. After 15 years of living in Knoxville, and 30 years living away from from the state where I was born, I'm moving back to Connecticut. I honestly never expected to move back, though that's where most of my extended family lives, but my partner is starting a Master's program in New Haven this Fall. The proximity to family and the opportunities that have opened up made the decision to move easier than I expected, but I sure am going to miss Knoxville and the practice I've built here.

When I graduated massage school 5 years ago, I couldn't have imagined where my career would take me. I honestly expected to work at some massage chain, but I almost immediately had the opportunity to start working out of Glowing Body, which was my first choice of a place to work. I soon took a Thai on the Table course with Kelly Scott, and though it took another year of getting my bearings and exploring my practice, I really started to fall in love with Thai massage. Three years ago I decided to exclusively focus on Thai and and began to deepen my practice - completing Kelly's Thai Practitioner certification program, studying with world-renowned teachers David Roma and Krishnataki, and completing the yoga teacher training offered at the studio. I fell so incredibly blessed to have these opportunities, and to have the support, mentorship and friendship of both Kim and Kelly at Glowing Body. This studio has so deeply shaped my practice and me.

No studio home could be the same, but in anticipation of my move I've (hopefully!) found a new home for my practice in New Haven, CT. I'll share more details once things are finalized in early August, but until then, please share this post and my information along to anyone you might know in the New Haven area!
